S.T.A.R. Options:
Class Clap, counting, and rhythms. Teacher or one student lead. When the whole class sounds as one, try tow, then three, etc…
Math Counting (Multiples) Partner Counting. Clapping as a group to desired number. Add a partner and alternate count. Change partners.
Play + Connect Activity
This game will test players’ word recall and spelling skills. Prepare for this game by writing at least six words on some cardboard (leaving a space between the letters). Cut out each letter, mix them up, and then create word piles. Players should divide into 2 teams. Each team gets three word piles. When the leader says, “go!” each team must arrange the letters to form three words. The first team to get all three words correct wins.
Breathing Exercise Options:
Belly Breathing
5 belly breaths with mouth closed and hands on belly. Goal is to get students to breathe through nose and use their diaphragm. There should be very little movement of the chest and the belly should move in and out. Can do several rounds of this activity.
Accordion Breathing
5 belly breaths with mouth closed and hands on sides of lower ribs. Goal is to get students to breathe through nose and use their diaphragm. There should be very little movement of the chest and the students should feel movement outward on the inhale. Can do several rounds of this activity.
Learn + Grow Activity
You can direct the students to create words from a category you are studying in the classroom (geometric shapes, nouns, verbs, prey and predator, etc.).
Reflect Activity
How did you contribute to your group’s success? How does it feel when you work together and accomplish the goal?
